British & Chinese restaurants in an east meet west collaboration to boost business. Torrevieja, Thursday 21st January 2010, east meets West at the Rocajuna Restaurant & Bar in Punta Prima. This well known British bar and their close neighbours, the Lujoso Chinese Restaurant are using their close proximately and shared gardens to offer additional entertainment to their clients.

The first venture was a successful ‘Chinglish Night’ (Chinese & English) on January 2nd. Customers enjoyed a set meal in the Lujoso Chinese restaurant, and then walked across the gardens to the Rocajuna for a night of entertainment with local band ‘The Faith’. Tuesday 19th saw the latest collaboration with a boot fayre in the gardens of both restaurants. This was well supported by over 20 stall holders and a large turnout by members of the public looking for a bargain with food and drinks on offer in both establishments.

The Tuesday boot fayre is now a weekly event and additional attractions are in the pipeline for the future. Businesses working together in these hard times have to be a good thing, so let’s hope we see more of it over the coming months.

Rocajuna can't be doing that badly in the recession in my opinion as they are actively turning down business!

Last friday, we were supposed to have our Community AGM meeting at Rocajuna at 11am and this was confirmed with the restaurant a number of times. However, by 11.20am the place was still locked up with no signs of any staff showing up.

Our administrator tried calling the owners, but the calls went to voicemail.

To make things worse, this is exactly the same scenario as last year. Needless to say, our urbanisation will NOT be holding next years AGM there!
