SUN SHINES ON ST GEORGE
Mark Nolan / 2010-04-24 11:19:44
April 23rd dawned bright and sunny, ideal conditions for the St. George’s Day celebrations at Orihuela Costa. The organisers did a great job, and the car park behind Mercadona I Playa Flamenca was bursting with all sorts of goings on.
The top entertainment was provided by the Exite Radio road show, with Julie McCracken opening the festivities at 1pm. The market stalls on offer were selling all sorts of things, many typically British, and all at bargain prices. The food and drink stalls were very popular, as the beautiful weather invited everyone to take a seat and sip a long cool beer or taste some of the thirst quenching ice creams on offer.
The highlight of the day was St. George slaying the dragon, which caused cries of delight from the crowd. This led a colourful parade which rounded off the celebrations in a unique and enjoyable fashion.
Listen to Mark Nolan on the Costa Blanca's favourite radio station, Exite Radio, where he hosts the Weekend Breakfast Show between 0900 and 1200 every Saturday and Sunday morning.
