A host of nations were represented in this annual Tiger Bowls World Invitation and China Open 2010 including: Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, China, Jersey, Canada, Israel, Scotland, England, Wales, Singapore, UAE, Thailand, Fiji, Philippines, Netherlands, Japan and the USA. Also represented were a host of local Hong Kong and China club teams. A total of 78 teams were competing.
Spain were represented in the competitions by Paul Brown, Russell Marks, Fred Roberts and Alex McNeil.
In the Hong Kong competition, they played 10 games, winning 8, drawing 1 and losing 1. After a long wait on results from around the venues they were disappointed to find out that they had just missed out on a semi-final place, to Fiji the eventual winners, by a 5 shot difference. Officially finishing 5th from 78. The games were all played on grass so this was a very good performance!
Similarly, again on a very slow grass surface, they just missed out on a quarter final slot in the China Open, losing the final qualifying game 11-14 against a very good Malaysian team.
It was a very enjoyable experience and there will be memories that will stay with them for a very long time as well as gaining new friends from around the world.
The team would like to thank all the bowlers who contributed towards their costs. It was very much appreciated.
