The Leader received some sad news on Thursday. Well known local bowler Mervyn Lewis died on Wednesday evening. Mervyn was out at a function with the San Miguel Bowls Club at Bocados in Los Dolses. He was enjoying himself, dancing the night away, but collapsed as he started to walk back to his table. As it happened, there was an off duty UK paramedic, an ex-nurse, a retired fireman and a police officer from Kent in the restaurant at the time, and all rushed to try and save Mervyn, working on him for 25 minutes, but unfortunately it was all to no avail. When the ambulance arrived there was nothing they could do to save this well liked man.
Harry Sharpe, member of San Miguel Bowls, would like to thank these four selfless people, Ross Stockell, Michale Clifford, Ian Scott and Bob Carozzi, for all their help and determination, and also the staff and manager of Bocados Restaurant, who all did their best to help in a very difficult and sad situation.
Mervyn’s wife Kay was in the UK at the time, so she had to rush back to sort everything out and deal with the death of her companion. She is in the thoughts of everyone at San Miguel Bowls.
