In the 15th Municipal Patronato Trophy Competition on Saturday 12 May at the Municipal Pool, San Vincente, the Torrevieja Swimming Club won 4 trophies.

The day’s events were split into the younger competitors in the morning and older team members in the afternoon. In total 643 swimmers from 20 regional clubs competed in both sessions.

During the morning the team competed in 50m and 100m backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle events. All swimmers worked hard and achieved some very rewarding personal times and new personal bests.

The girls 100m Alevin Backstroke event saw Piroska Rideg win 2nd place and a silver trophy with a new personal best time of 1:18:69. Towards the end of the mornings races Piroska fought a very close race to earn third place and a trophy in her 100m Butterfly event with a time of 1:27:28. The boys Benjamin 4 x 50m Medley Relay event excitingly finished the morning’s events with the boys, Georgy Murskiy, Kasper Goliszek, Bastian Martinez and Timofei Pykin winning 6th position with a time of 2:54:80.

The afternoon session saw 14 older members of the club compete in another full calendar of races. All team members swam well, improving on times and personal bests. The most rewarding was Emma Cagigao’s two events, the 50m Absolute Backstroke and the 100m Junior Freestyle.

Emma won 1st place and trophies in both races knocking a further 2 seconds off her 50m Backstroke personal best with a time of 33:63. Both Adam Stewart and Aleksander Haarberg participated in the Absolute categories achieving good times and enjoying the buzz of team competitions. Well done to all the Torrevieja swimmers.

The Torrevieja swimming club is always looking to invite new members. The club meets each evening, in three sessions, Monday to Friday between 5.30pm and 9pm. The club trains in the 50m pool at the Palacio de Deportes Infanta Cristina, Torrevieja.
