TROPHIES FOR TORREVIEJA SWIMMING CLUB

Saturday 31st March saw Torrevieja Swimming Club compete in two Trophy competitions in the Municipal Pool San Vincente, Alicante. Swimming club “Club Natacion Raspeig” hosted the VIII Trophy of Swimming, 437 swimmers representing 20 clubs from around the region competed throughout the event and standards were high. Fourteen of the Torrevieja squad competed against their peers and in the girls Alevin category, Piroska Rideg received a trophy for winning 2nd place in the 100m freestyle event.
All the squad worked very hard and both the Prebenjamin members of the squad reduced their times in the 50m freestyle. Amy Connolly reduced her time by 8 seconds down to 58:88 and Artem Nikolaev by nearly 3 seconds to 43:11. In the Benjamin category Victoria Pigneur, Johnathan Izquierdo and Bastian Martinez swam the 50m freestyle for the first time this season and set themselves new personal times and Georgy Murskiy reduced his previous time by 1 second to 1:54:94.
In the Alevin category 100m freestyle Alejandra Amat reduced her time by 2 seconds to 1:36:61 and Elian Del Rio Castillo retained his previous best time. Piroska Rideg swam a very close race to win an outstanding 2nd position with a time of 1:12:83. Lastly the three Infantil swimmers Louise Brassington, Nadia Cheetham and Konstantin Badminov worked hard and retained personal bests, Nadia improving on her previous time by 2 seconds to 1:16:31.
To finish the events of the day the girls Alevin and Infantil squad competed in the 4 x 50m freestyle earning a time of 2:33:66. Well done to all!!
In the afternoon the newly formed Torrevieja Masters competed in the III Memorial Competition for Councillor Ramon Garcia Anton. Unfortunately Beth Altabas was forced to withdraw due to a bad leg which left Vicki Connolly to compete in the 50m and 100m freestyle events. Vicki gained 1st position in the 45-49yrs 50m freestyle with a time of 35:68 and 2nd position in the 100m’s with a new personal best of 1:21:49.
The Torrevieja swimming club is always looking to invite new members. The club meets each evening, in three sessions, Monday to Friday between 5.30pm and 9pm. The club trains in the 50m pool at the Palacio de Deportes Infanta Cristina, Torrevieja.
