SAMM ROUND THE ISLAND WARM UP RACE

Sailing Association Mar Menor. Sunday 18th March 2012
The first race day of the Sailing Association Mar Menor’s Spring Series was the Round the Island Warm up Race on 18th March. The race took place from the CAR Sailing Centre at Los Narejos on the Mar Menor. There were 12 boats taking part with wind speeds from 5 to 9 knot.
The race started at 12.00 and was divided into two classes: the cruiser class and the dingy class. The start was from the CAR Jetty to the 2nd buoy round to the port side and then on to the island going round anticlockwise and back to the buoy at the CAR and was run under the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick handicap system. The results on corrected times were:-

3rd SHOESTRING DOS, John Down, Bob Blinkhorn
4th shoestring tres, George Wedgwood, Peter Cadwell
5th SEAHOPPER, Mick Burgess
6th WETA 15, Edd Penning, Heinz Lenhard
7th Shoestring uno, Kath Roper, Peter Roper and Lawrence Carter
