Top Jamaican musicians will perform once again in this traditional Cali festival, now in its eighth year, which will take place on the beach in Mijas on Saturday August 7th from 21:30 hrs. Visitors will be able to see, totally free or charge, the sounds of Jah Mason, Shabu One Shant , Jah Rueben Mystic & Wise House Crew and King Wadada .
“This event has now established itself as the most important of its kind in southern Spain and in recent years has brought to the Costa del Sol some of the brightest stars on the international reggae scene” said Youth Councillor Tamara Vera.
Jah Mason has built up a great reputation from the Jamaican underground scene to become one of the most impressive sing-jays of his generation. According to organizers, “Jah belongs to a new kind of performer, capable of singing and celebrating reggae with incredible versatility." Born in the district of Manchester, a rural Jamaican shanty town, Mason has been singing since his childhood. After working as a producer of Jamaican music for about 15 years, he recorded his first single in the early nineties with Junior "One Blood" Reid, former lead singer of Black Uhuru Michael Rose.
Jah Mason will perform accompanied by King Wadada Sound. Also on stage will be Jah Rueben Mystic & Wise House Crew. The lineup is completed by Shabu One Shant, one of the many artists who makes up the reggae scene in Spain.
The Youth Zone will also offer the opportunity for young local talent to perform on stage. Alvarez, making his debut, will be just one such performer.
Free parking is provided next to the fairground and there will be a number of other activities taking place including a waterfront craft market. The City Council, will be working with the Civil Defense , Red Cross, Local Police, Operational Services and Cleaning to look after thousands of anticipated visitors.
