Tony Sessolo has been keeping himself busy over the past year. Not only has he been travelling the world, giving concerts in Holland, Ireland and Italy, but he has also recorded and released three new CDs which are all excellent to relax to, and will be available for purchase at all of Tony’s daily gigs along the Costa Blanca. The CDs are titled “A True Friendship” , “Va Pensiero” which features classics such as Unchained Melody and the Green Green Grass of Home, and “The Songs Of My Heart” which were all written by Tony himself over the last three years, and are very special to him as they are all about things which have happened to him. Tony’s impressive voice has been compared to that of Pavarotti, and like all good singers, his voice has the ability to make your hairs stand on end and stir your emotions.
This well known Italian knew he was going to be a singer from as early as the age of 5. “I was always singing, and people would stop and listen to me in my native town of Treviso, Northern Italy.” At the age of 13 he started to sing to large crowds at the theatre, and in the following few years he won all sorts of singing competitions, the most important being in a national festival, converting Tony Sessolo into a household name in Italy. When he was 18 he started singing lessons with the great Italian tenor Mario del Monaco, and he made his first record. Things moved very quickly then, and at the age of just 19 Tony found himself touring Germany. He was later invited to appear on a popular television programme in Italy, which gave him a taste of presenting and would later lead to a second career as a TV host.
As he became more and more well known, Tony was invited to perform all over the world, in Switzerland, Ethiopia, France, the UK, Spain, Canada, the USA and Greece, to name but a few of the countries he sang in. He recorded two LPs, which were followed by international tours, with concert dates booked for weeks in many places. In 1990 Tony was invited to host a popular Italian television programme, which he did for 17 years. In 1997 he sang for Prince Ranieri in Montecarlo, which is a night which will always stick in his mind. Another unforgettable experience was singing in the first official mass and concert for Pope Luciani in 1978. In 1989 he performed in front of a crowd of 27,000 people in the Toronto Stadium. Singing with Bocelli is another experience he will never forget.
Tony recently decided to settle in Spain, and not surprisingly he is booked every evening to sing in local bars and restaurants. You can catch him on Mondays at O’Sole Mio Restaurant in Villamartin, on Tuesday at La Piazza Restaurant in C.C. La Fuente, on Wednesdays at The Central Grill in C.C. Zeniamar, on Thursdays at Restaurante D’Antonio in Benijofar, On Fridays at the new La Piazza II Restaurant in C.C. Punta Marina, on Saturdays at Restaurante Leonardo in C.C. Flamenca Beach, and on Sundays at Restaurante Mama Mia in C.C. Costamarina in Orihuela Costa. Tony also sings in La Zenia Church on Sunday mornings in the 11am mass, and has now recorded 15 Cds, which can be purchased during his performances.
Tony is looking into opening his own Italian Restaurant shortly, and plans to sing in it everyday, so watch this space for details of the next “in” place to be. You can phone him on 670815891 to book him.
