JULIE'S BLOG - 26TH JULY 2010
Julie McCracken / 2010-07-26 13:51:59
It’ s been lovely having family out, but now I’m finding myself trying to keep to the same routine as we had when they were here, such as the swimming pool. I used to never really go into it too often, but now I try and have a dip in it before or after work, just to cool down. I’m up to 5 or 6 back and forwards when I get in, so I’m hoping to have the body of Cindy Crawford soon!
I do love having guests in the studio, and last week Jordan O’ Keefe popped in to say hello and have a chat about his music career. He’s only 16 years of age and has already written a lot of original material and entered many competitions. You can check him out on YouTube, just search for his name. He has a very bright future ahead of him and an amazing family to back him up all the way. He is here for a few weeks, so if you want to see him performing a set, get yourself to my gigs on a Saturday & Sunday at Pablo’s bar.
Last week it was announced that an X Factor magazine will be released in September. I think that’s a brilliant idea. I used to love when I was little, getting the Smash Hits and the Top of the Pops magazines, with your free tape if you were lucky enough, and not forgetting the pull out posters and words to all the songs. In saying that, for some reason, we didn’t always get the freebies like tapes, or nail varnish in Just 17, in Ireland. The magazines came from the U.K so I think the freebies weren’t included to anyone overseas. It’s crazy when you think of all the little toys, sweets and bits going around when you were a child. I remember the cute little fishes that used to roll up when you put them in the palm of your hand, and the white chocolate fish and chips, yummy. Oh and the little things you got free in Corn Flakes that went on the wheels of your bike that made clicking noises when they moved. Those were the days alright. The dancing flowers (which my aunt still has 2 of) and the cups and t-shirts that changed colour when hot...mood rings...trolls...dummy necklaces...swatch watches...snap bands...oh I’ll stop now! I love when I go back to Ireland and go into my Nanna’s house. Everything is still there from when I was a child. All my handmade bits from school, my china tea set, the glow in the dark stickers my aunt and I stuck all over the light switches and even our pink and blue elephant jewellery holders above the fireplace. I bought my Nanna a soft cat clock on one of my school tours and even that is still tick tocking away beside her. It’s great.
Well, I do hope you’re enjoying the hot weather we’re having. It’s certainly easier to enjoy it, when you’re by the pool or at the beach, and not trying to work out in it. I know where I’ll be in my spare time. xXx
