JAZZ NIGHT AT TAMISA
Over 150 jazz fans packed into the grounds of the Tamisa Hotel recently, an ideal setting, to hear a great jazz singer Helena Paul and her two accompanists play two sets of over an hour each. With the raffle and auction, The Mijas La Cala Lions raised nearly 2.500 euros on the night for the Chile Earthquake Appeal. Thank you to all who attended.
FUENGIROLA PARADE
The Union Jack was proudly paraded by The Lions in Fuengirola on the Saturday during the Days of the Pueblos. Lookalikes Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles (aka Harriet and Bryan) rode the parade on mobility scooters supplied by Senior World of Los Boliches and the Miramar Centre. Carlos of Senior World has now applied for the ‘By Royal Appointment’ sign! George, our friendly bulldog, also made an appearance and, despite his age, completed the course in true British fashion! Janet, his walker was full of praise for his true Churchillian appearance!
Thousands of spectators were made aware of the amount of charity work The Lions put in during the year. Over 400.000 euros has now been raised in just over 11 years – a fine achievement.
