WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
So according to researchers chatting over the garden fence or in the supermarket queue is good for. Especially it seems the females of our race are benefitting the most from this – because they’re the ones who do it. Gossiping reduces stress and anxiety says the research and having a good old chin-wag is an important part of social bonding. Mind you this research was done in the USA where they’ll tell you that a gallon of coke with your burger is healthy…
AN INSPIRATION
The majority of us live a pretty normal, healthy life until the day we curl up our toes through old age or age related illnesses and it is extremely hard to appreciate the horrendous discomfort and disruption caused to peoples’ lives through illness hitting one of the family. Lawrence Wood roof and his Mum Diana have been through all that and are an inspiration to others. Not only do they inspire hope and determination in other sufferers of kidney problems or of people needing transplants but also in people like myself who have met them. When you take into account what they have had to go through and how positive and full of life they are, it’s humbling. Especially when I get my bank statement and I think I’ve got all the problems of the world on my shoulders…thinking of people such as Diana and Lawrence puts it all into perspective. Value those important things in life like your family and those close to you and do something about the things you can affect…like the bank balance for a start, but don’t think it’s the hub of your world because there are many more precious things closer to home.
By the way, I must add - Diana and Lawrence’s first meal after waking up from a kidney transplant? You’ve guessed it – someone in Addenbrooks hospital has a sense of humour, they were served Steak and Kidney pie…
