Torrevieja Guardia Civil officers have been chosen to try out two new models for the Guardia uniform.
The new, more modern uniform is programmed to replace the old one by the end of next year. The new uniforms are being tried and tested in just two other towns in Spain; in Las Rozas (Madrid) and Sahagón (Leon). The designers wish to check the uniform is suitable for a variety of climates. The present uniforms have been around for 20 years.
In Torrevieja only 7 officers have been asked to try out the new suits. They will then have to give a thorough report on the uniforms.
One of the biggest differences is the hat, which is a baseball cap.
