CONSTA BLANCA
What the hell is going on in this part of the world? We’ve got Clairvoyants who are reading cards…but unfortunately they’re ‘Get out of jail free’ ones, people offering to buy our houses for more than anyone else is willing to offer (Too Good To Be True - 6th July issue) and all sorts of scams to relieve the man (or woman) on the street of their hard-earned. The world, I have decided, has gone mad and proof of that is RyanAir are now going to be getting us to not only carry our own bags on to the planes but when we do get on board - tired after lugging the wife’s ‘necessary’ suitcase of forty-six pairs of shoes along the tarmac – we’ll have a stool to sit on. Now whether this turns out to be a nice leather number with swivel capabilities or not is yet to be seen but I’m sure it won’t be long before they are telling us that in order to ‘keep prices competitive’ we’ll have to bring our own…or stand up and hang on like tube passengers.
A GOOD PAIR TO HAVE
What a fine pair of neighbours residents in Residential Colinas de la Zenia Elite in La Zenia have in the shape of President Wally Tynan and his pal Mick Pawsey. These two have worked damn hard for the past three years trying to make the area they, and many others, thought would be their Spanish dream. But like too many other ex-pats who bought off plan and they found problems along the way. Rather than sit back and moan about it these two have got off their backsides and really got things done. My hat goes off to them and perhaps in some small way the local council could find a way to thank (or help) them for their efforts and incredible dedication.
CAN YOU SMELL SOMETHING?
I’ve mentioned above about the amount of scams that seem to be going on over here at the moment. Morairaway.com is another that took people (a lot of people) for a good few quid before one suspicious holidaymaker made the trip to Alicante only to find that the place he had booked to rent did not exist. I guess in times of hardship certain people exploit those who are unaware and can somehow manage to walk away with the money with no conscience whatsoever – that means that they are either working for the Inland Revenue or they are the equivalent of something I trod in last week…I hope they get ill…
