Following on from the success of the 58th Habaneras Music festival and competition, on Friday Torrevieja’s Mayor Eduardo Dolon, said that the City was looking at a number of different festival offerings for next year. The newly completed Antonio Soria Park is now ready for its inaugural season of events, which start this weekend on Saturday August 11, with 14 hours of non-stop music and entertainment, dedicated to electronic music and indie, with an expected attendance of 15,000!
Over the past decade Torrevieja have hosted a number of top-rank artists including REM, Depeche Mode, Shakira, Simple Minds and Chayanne, with top Spanish Diva Isabel Pantoja appearing on Saturday 18.
The latest opportunity to come Torrevieja’s way is the possibility of staging the Low Cost (yes, that is what it is called!) Music Event, a three day festival, which until now has had its home in Benidorm. Should the festival move from Benidorm, Torrevieja is perfectly positioned as it has magnificent infrastructure and extensive experience in organizing such events. Independent from the Cultural Department, FC Torrevieja are also looking towards utilizing the facilities of the Vicente Garcia Stadium, for other festivals, such as Country and Western, 60’s & 70’s, which would both benefit the football club and add even more attractions to the city’s cultural calendar.
However, if you have the stamina, and are maybe of an age that you (or may your children or grandchildren) can withstand fourteen hours of uninterrupted music, the place to be this weekend will be at Electromar Day in the Antonio Soria Park. The Park is being split up into three different zones, with the main Coca Cola Stage featuring such indie artists as Ivan Ferreiro and Love of Lesbian and then later in the night, Dj Fresh, Orbital Sound System, Tiga and Booka Shade will vibrate to the attendees.
A few yards away, the Metro Dance Club Bonus Go (yes, that is also what this is called!) a number of well known national and international artists will perform, beginning at 7:30pm with Ivan Serra followed by Christian Smith, Ambivalent, Oliver Huntemann, Cyberpunkers, Dubpaper, Dubsidia, Border Line and The Zombie Kids, all ending at breakfast time (for some) at 9.00am! The third space, the Electromar Room, Alex bring together Now, from 21h, Banon B2B D'Long (symmetric), Hector Carbonell, Andres Arias, Victor Vera, Dubsick and Restless Showcase Club, La Musique d'Ordinateur, Soak and others will keep banging out the beat to the public until 8.00am!
If you wish to cool off, they are also adding a Pool Party to be held on the premises from the afternoon until well into the dawn. ElectroMar, a day of fun in the sun, and going to dawn, filled with beautiful people (look out for Mark and Derek looking inconspicuous among the 15,000) and having an enjoyable day out, ElectroMar is the place to be.
