We set off for Roda for our challenge match against the Slievlemon Golf Society. When we arrived at the course we were greeted by our new vice captain Chris Blown with a new set of rules for the coming year. Copies were given out to all the members present. Rules included a 5 euro fine for anyone not wearing a Happydayz shirt; neither will anyone not going back to the bar after a match receive their Prize. Our former vice wears a very natty pair of blue trousers, this was going to be made compulsory for the rest of the members. Anyone taking a buggy will be given a 2 shot penalty and finally he may change the rules as he sees fit. He also expects to be addressed as skip captain. It was slowly dawning on the members that we had not spawned a monster but it was April the 1st after all.
Now for the match. We had 34 players who turned up to tee off. As usual the course was in very good condition, weather fine and dry and everyone in a good mood. The format was four ball better ball the match turned out to be a draw with some fine golf being played.
Winners for Happydayz were: Steve Thomas and Fred Noak's, Chris Blown and Brian Smith, Robin Adams and Joe Kyne
For Slievlemon Golf Society: Greg and John, Roy and Ray, Stuart and George
We also had a well played match which was a draw between
John Donovan and Ran Davis and Dave Naylor partnered by Brian Crane.
