Torrevieja Golf Society at Roda 31st March

The Captain chose this day to hold a modified team Stableford known as the "yellow peril." This format involved each team starting with a yellow ball which scored double points for the player using it but on each hole the yellow ball was given to a different team member in alphabetical surname order. The team continued to use this ball until it was lost and thereafter scoring reverted to the standard Stableford system.
The Roda course was in its usual superb condition and although it was a bright sunny day the wind was very strong which made the control of ball flight and club selection extremely difficult. As we had not played this format for quite some time it was difficult to forecast in the prevailing conditions exactly what a good score would be but it was essential to keep the yellow ball in play for as much of the round as possible. As it turned out the winning teams managed to keep their yellow ball in play for the whole 18 holes and the winners on the day were:
1st Team: Stan Boyles, Terry Crawley, Alan James and Ray Madeley.
2nd Team: Peter Ferries, Alan Hedges, Sandra Twentyman and Mr. X.
Nearest the Pins: Hole 7 Graham Swain, Hole 11 Pete Santon, Hole 13 Sandra Twentyman.
The Two's Competition was not won this week so prize money will be carried over to next weeks fixture at Alicante.
