First of April saw us all at Bonalba 30 members and 2 guests so we had a full field playing. The weather was very promising and we were not let down in that area it was a lovely warm day with not too much wind, the course was in very good condition and the greens were slick as ever and very difficult to read. Roy Kavanagh wanted another 10 euros side bet with me so I took him on again that's three in a row now Roy so you had better get that direct debit set up to my bank.
We started our knock out competition at Bonalba and five games of match play were running alongside the usual stableford competition so those that played had a lot to think about during the round. Congratulations to the winners of their first game, Mike Renals, Pam Martin, Dave Winchcombe, Steve Dunn and David Bourne.
Our nearest the pin comps showed some excellent golf shots from many members and John Dunnion eagled the 6th par 4 to win the nearest the pin in two well done John you can now join the eagle club with me and wear the badge with pride.
Victor Dew has now perfected his sand shots with a fantastic flight from the bunker of 30 yards and straight into the hole keep it up mate it was nice to see. David McSweeney had his usual steady round and played very well on a very difficult course well done David and welcome to your new handicap. Darryll Wright will be playing a new handicap next game for winning the silver section so well done to you; your T shirt was a bit bright Darryll when you arrived at the course we had to put sun glasses on to avoid the glare.
The day came to an end and we all headed back to H.Q. in Quesada for the presentation and a few sherbets.
