Shine Baby Shine - will be in the winners enclosure soon.

By Andrew Atkinson

Shine Baby Shine trained by Philip  Kirby finished fourth at Ayr on Monday under apprentice jockey Nick Barratt-Atkin at the Scottish track.

“Shine Baby Shine was placed yet again, in running fourth at Ayr,” Green Oaks, Yorkshire based trainer Philip told me.

Shine Baby Shine was mid-division, ridden to chase the leaders 2 furlongs out, keeping on at the same pace, in the Jockey Club Restaurant At Westernhouse Hotel Apprentice Handicap (C5) over 1 mile and 5 furlongs, won by 33-1 outsider Lizzie Lock, trained by A. C. Whillians.

Shine Baby Shine, who opened at 6-1, drifting to 7-1, collected a fourth placed purse worth £300.

“Shine Baby Shine will be back in the winners enclosure before the season is out,” said Phillip, who praised teenage jockey Barratt-Atkin.

“Shine Baby Shine was given a good ride from young Nick Barratt-Atkin,” added Philip.
