The Civil Guard has arrested a 69-year-old Spanish man as the alleged perpetrator of the attempted murder of his own son.

The incident took place last Wednesday, 12 June, when the Guardia Civil were called to an aparthotel in Torrevieja, after receiving a report of a brawl between two men. On arrival, the scene that they found was that of a 35-year-old man, losing blood from a stab wound in his side and with wounds on his hands.

Although extremely weak because of the loss of blood he told the agents that it was his father who took out a knife and began to stab him during a very heated argument, about old family quarrels,

The young man tried to prevent the stabbing by using his hands, but he could not avoid the one that cut his side. There was so much blood that the emergency response team themselves warned that his life was in danger.

The father was immediately arrested for attempted murder. He was caught just outside the apartment as he tried to flee.

The Civil Guard said that he had been hiding in the building, and during the search they found it hidden among the stored furniture in the basement.

The father appeared before a judge on Friday when he was remanded in custody.

Officers from the Local Police assisted in the arrest.
