The new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been crowned Large Van of the Year at the inaugural Great British Fleet Awards, held at a glittering ceremony in Hammersmith, London.

Dan Gilkes, Van Fleet World Editor and one of the judges for the Great British Fleet Awards, said: “We were very impressed with the technology in the new Sprinter last year, but had yet to drive the van on UK roads, which ruled it out of our awards in 2018. Having got behind the wheel mid-year, it was an easy decision to give Mercedes’ biggest LCV our large van award this year.

“With the addition of front as well as rear-wheel drive, and more recently new 4×4 versions too, Mercedes has something for everyone with the latest Sprinter. But it is far more than that, which puts the van at number one. The technology and connectivity available to customers is second to none and the whole PRO connect concept should make it far easier for operators to get the best out of their vans.”

Steve Bridge, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Vans UK, commented: “The new Sprinter has raised the bar in the large van segment and with this award, further cements its place as the king of the large vans.

“To win an award not just for the ‘metal’, but for the connectivity and technology too is testament to the capabilities of this vehicles and how it really can keep businesses moving.”

Like previous generations of the multi-award-winning Mercedes-Benz workhorse, the next Sprinter – which is priced from £25,330* excl. VAT – raises the bar in the large van segment. Since its launch in 1995, the Sprinter has defined and re-defined a whole segment numerous times. t has notched a succession of technological ‘firsts’ including the ESP stability system, Crosswind Assist, the Euro VI emissions standard, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, and collected more than 80 industry awards.
