Hola! y Feliz Navidad

Four teams competed in a 3-2-1 ‘Dusty Bin’ to start our week on Monday. In a closely fought contest, first place, with 86 points (which was only three more than the runners up) went to Joyce McClusky, Nigel Price, Mike Mahony and Peter Wickham.

Thanks also go to Joyce for arranging the prizes for Wednesday’s 2 ball better ball competition. With most players entering into the Xmas spirit and wearing Santa hats or silly jumpers it was Mike Frankish who uttered the immortal words ‘my antlers are broken’!

Some great scores were achieved with Heinz Lei and Nigel Price coming out on top with 46 points. Heinz, with no conscious effort, managed to look exactly like Father Christmas! Hot on their heels, with 45 points, were Pete Dunn and Mike Mahony. Six ‘2’s were recorded and there were also two prizes for ‘nearest the pin’. Our President, Dave Pulling, managed it on the 6th and surprisingly I got closest on the 14th.

There was a fond farewell and ‘adios’ to John (Bonnie Lad) Collins before Friday’s ‘Texas Scramble’. Good luck mate, we’ll miss you. Taking first spot, with a nett score of 63, were Rod Doel, Dave Pulling, Nick Campbell and the evergreen  Reg Akehurst.

Pues, hasta el ano que viene,

Peter Reffell
