C.D. Torrevieja A 0 v. Daya Nueva 3

What a slow start to the game by both sides, it was as if we were watching the game unfold in slow motion.  There was no doubt that Daya were the better side but the tempo was snail like.  After ten minutes you would be forgiven if you fell asleep.

Daya needed to inject some pace into their play as this style was suiting Torre too much.  After twenty minutes there had been nothing of note to report from either side then Daya put together a good move that saw Marcos hit a shot that the home side keeper finger tipped away to safety.  Were Daya now beginning to wake up ?  I certainly hoped so as it was the most boring game I have seen this season.

On thirty minutes some action from the home side, they beat the offside trap but a last ditch Daya tackle saved a certain goal.  On thirty five minutes Daya themselves put together a good attack that produced a corner.  Norberto took the corner kick which eventually found Franki’s head for 1-0 Daya.  Would this be the start of the real Daya showing up.  Far from it as the home side almost had the equaliser moments later!

On forty three minutes Daya’s Josue of all players missed an open goal when clean through.  So 1-0 Daya at the break after a half of very poor football, especially knowing what Daya are capable of producing.  The second period began with both sets of players moving more quickly, probably because they were cold !

Within minutes Josue had a wonderful chance of doubling Daya’s score but he dragged his shot wide.  Mind you it was good to see the visitors well on top at this early stage of the second half.  From a corner on fifty two minutes an easy chance went begging as Daya headed over the bar.  Moments later Josue with only the keeper to beat could not find the back of the net.

The same player was guilty of the same minutes later, Josue was having a nightmare of a game.  Would all these missed chances cost Daya dearly ?  Franki caught Josue’s complaint on sixty three minutes when he also failed to beat the keeper when through on goal.  On sixty seven minutes Norberto won a penalty that Rocamora calmly stroked home for 2-0 Daya.  So surely that would seal victory for the visitors.  There was really nothing coming from Torre now and with ten minutes or so still to play Daya should add to their score.

They did just that on eighty two minutes when Sierra finished off a good move for a 3-0 scoreline.  More spectacular misses by Daya followed but by now they were home and hosed.  Man of the Match was every Daya supporter that sat threw that diabolical first half.

No game now until 13 January 2019.  Feliz Navidad
