Since the beginning of this month the British Consulate in Alicante has been running a series of events for UK nationals on Living in Spain and Brexit where British Consul Sarah-Jane Morris and her team have updated residents with the latest information on Brexit and what this means for UK nationals living in Spain. See below for the remaining dates and venues.

Last week almost 1,000 people attended the six events, having their questions answered on topics including residency, healthcare and tax.

A range of experts, charities and neighbourhood support groups are represented at each event, forming a kind of “surgery” to make sure everyone gets the chance to ask their question to the right person.

At upcoming events, you will be able to speak to an expert from the town hall about your padrón and clarify how to register as resident in Spain under current rules; BREXPATS IN SPAIN will be attending to assist people with legal and financial advice and to update on their current position with striving to defend the rights of British in Spain; and in Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja the Guardia Civil trafico will also be on hand to answer questions about driving in Spain.

You do not have to be resident in each town to attend the events, since they are open for anyone who is interested in finding out more. For specific questions about the padrón it would be helpful to attend an event where you live.

British Consul Sarah-Jane Morris said: “Everyone who wants to speak to one of us individually will have the opportunity to do so. If you haven’t yet been to one of the events and are unclear about your situation regarding residency in Spain or how your situation in Spain might change after Brexit, please do come along to one of the remaining dates.”

These events are part of an ongoing programme of outreach and events being held across the country, details of which will be available on our Brits in Spain social media channels and in English language media.
