Last Sunday the streets of Pilar de la Horadada were filled with cyclists, all competing in the XXXVIII Virgen del Pilar Trophy.

The event covered a distance of almost 80 kilometres including the Alto de Rebate, where many spectators gathered on the side of the road to cheer on the riders.

The winners of the open category were Teofilo Jiménez of the team ‘Ciclos Teo C.C’, with a time of 1:46:24. Second was José Pardo and in third place Francisco Fernández, both of the ‘Club ULB Sports-Unif’.

There were also prizes for the top twenty riders which included José Moreno, Devan Mitkou and José Carlos Teruel, all of the Horadada Cycling Club.

At the start of the presentation ceremony the race organisers gave a plaque to the Local Police, which was received by agent Ricardo Rodríguez, in gratitude for the support they have provided in recent races.

The awards ceremony was attended by the Mayor, Ignacio Ramos, along with the councillors of Sports, Festivities and Security, Antonio Escudero, Alfonso Armenteros and José Tomás Saura. They were accompanied by the Court of Honor of the Patron Saint Festivities 2018 and the President of the Horadada Cycling Club, Manuel Castejón, who took the opportunity to congratulate all participating cyclists.
