Have you heard of Networks Theatre in Orihuela? They’ve produced 100 shows in 18 years which is a tremendous achievement by any standards. The theatre, founded in 1999, is  part of the prestigious Networks English Studies.  Of the 100 shows, incredibly 55 of them have been written by Artistic Director, Nick Moore.

“It started out as an educational activity to help kids learn English and it just grew and grew. After several flying visits to direct Nick moved here in 2001 with his husband Dennis Carpenter. “We’re lucky.” He adds, “I write and direct and Dennis creates the stage designs and makes amazing costumes.”

He outlined their year. “We have public shows and plays just for parents. Our year starts in October with rehearsals for our November pantomime.  Each year we produce one and our next, Dick Whittington, will be our 17th. They always get amazing audience reaction.” He continued, “we have 2 theatre courses for our students in December and June, then a big musical in March and a smaller show in May. That is our basic output and we have other events when we can.”

The theatre has played to 1000s of audience members across the years. They are easy to find in the heart of Orihuela in Calle San Agustin, next to La Lonja Concert Hall. You can see their website for the next show at the end of May. Nick’s hilarious comedy, Welcome to Sweetville. Visit www.networkstheatre.com or phone 967 74 02 051.
