Ladies Pairs R1 Carol Linehan & Linda Hier

This week has been the Champion of Champions week and win or lose, all players have done our club proud as a lot of the matches were very close.

Our Mixed Rink representatives of Barry Evans, Linda and Jeff Hier and Wayne Osguthorpe won the preliminary round against Bonalba 18 – 15 but lost the first round 10 – 16.  Both were close games.

Our Ladies Singles was represented by Margaret Odell against El Rancho but after a hard fought match lost 20 – 21.  You’ll not get much closer than that score.  Well played Margaret.  The Men’s Singles was represented by John Jukes who won the first round 21 – 17.  He came from 17 – 10 down to needing 3 shots to finish, which he achieved in style.  After another hard fought match John lost to El Rancho in the next round 18 – 21.  Next on day two was the Ladies pairs represented by Linda Hier and Carol Linehan who after watching the lead go back and forth several times throughout the match managed to win 18 -17 on an extra end.

The ladies lost their next match 10 – 22 to San Miguel.  Day 3 we only had one match.  That was the Mens Pairs represented by John Jukes and Wayne Osguthorpe who won their first round match quite convincingly 23 – 10.  Their next round match was another close result but our Guys lost 12 – 16 to San Miguel.

With no other matches to report on this week, thanks goes to all our players in an excellent effort in the Champion of Champions event.  There was a lot of good bowling there.  We have a small membership and we have proved that we can compete with the best.  Let’s keep this up for the rest of the season’s leagues and finish up there at the top.
