About two hundred birds will take part in the regional bird singing competition that will be held in  La Union’s sports centre next month.

This is the second time that the contest will be held in the small Murcian village to which it is expected to attract almost a thousand visitors who will gather to take in the spectacle and enjoy the birdsong.

Traditionally, the judges will give each bird a set amount of time to impress them. The judges will listen carefully – even counting the number of times the birds chirp –  and award points based on their melody, pitch, clarity, stamina, modulation and volume.

If you have never witnessed such a spectacle and wish to go along the competition will take place on Sunday 20 May at the Antonio Sanchez Unionense sports centre.
