Monday morning found the Raiders playing host to San Luis Vulcans and had the better part of the day for their match.

The Raiders played well and took full advantage of the home mat to take the rinks by 4 to 2 and the overall shots by a reasonable margin. Janet Wright, David Baker and Tony Robinson 9-16. Sheila Cox, Denise Morgan and Bob Morgan 17-10. Gill Bartlett, Bob Easthope and Rob Clark 16-12. Marion Haynes, Gary Dunstone and Malc Elmore 12-20. Peter Bagwell, Jean Bagwell and Dave Haynes 16-12. David Wright, Ann C Taylor and Bob Taylor 33-10.

In the afternoon the Pintos were at Quesada against the Diamonds, the weather was good to start with, but just as we were adjusting to the rink heavy rain really sorted us out, then a spell of sunshine before a little further splash of rain. In the end we came away without a point, but we survived the day and no-one died.

Friday found the Mustangs playing their last fixture of the league at San Miguel against the Jaguars and what a glorious day it was, of course that was just a taster for our seasonal players of what the 15th of august may be like in the UK.

The match was competitive, although the result might infer otherwise, it was certainly true that knowledge of the rink was an advantage and the Jaguars took full advantage, taking 5 rinks and the overall shots. But we all know that you don’t have to play badly to lose and there was some fine play all round.

In the afternoon the Broncos played at Vistabella against the Conquistadors and put in a great effort to come away with 2 rinks, always a good away result. Bob Day, Bob Easthope and Jean Bagwell 11-27. Tricia Elsam, Graham Day and Keith Longshaw 17-22. Sheila Cox, Pam Harris and Brian Harris 19-11. Ann C Taylor, Denise Morgan and Malc Elmore 7-27. Gary Dunstone, Ron Edwards and Rob Clark 25-6. Ann Abbott, John Richards and Dave Haynes 12-17.
