Start with the good news. The Golds travelled to San Luis Leopards with a narrow 2 point lead at the top of the Southern League C Division knowing that a big win was needed to better the result of Country Bowls home result against Montemar to capture the Championship.

Despite many close scores the Championship was secured with wins on all rinks which had looked unlikely after the halfway point where 3 rinks were winning and 3 losing. However, the spirit in the squad allowed a clean sweep after 18 ends winning by 117 shots to 98.

The Blues also finished the league in good style winning their B Division match by 119 shots to 89 to gain 10 points to 4 win at home against La Marina Merlins to ensure a final position in the middle of the table. Biggest winners for the Blues came from Dawn and John Taylor with Jim Eastwood winning 26-8.

The Apollos secured their top division position with a Division A result against San Luis Klingons seeing them safe above the relegation places. Well done to Sue Jordan, Alex Morrice and John Ball winning 16-12 whilst Pat Moore with David Laverick and Jenny Bowman won 16-15.

The Pioneers finished their campaign with a narrow 8-6 loss to Vistabella Eagles. However, with the blooding of several new talents this season the omens are good for a strong challenge next season. The squad finished the league comfortably in the middle of the league.

The Winter League team entertained San Miguel and picked up 4 valuable points keeping them in 10th position in the table. The winning rinks came from Doug and Fay Beattie with Tony Campbell and Derek Biggs winning 16-11 and Pat and Trish Reilly with Irene Mangan and Jenny Bowman winning 21-15.

Mixed results in the Fed 4’s with the Parakeets beating San Miguel Apaches 6-2 with Pat and Trish Reilly with Derek Biggs and John Ball winning 24-9 and Derek Smith, Tony Campbell, Irene Mangan and Alex Morrice winning 17-14.

A reverse for the Hoopoes at Country Bowls losing 6-2 the winning rink coming from Bill and Sue Jordan with Ken Stringfellow and George Richardson winning 17-14.
