On a beautiful sunny afternoon a record number of 16 players took part in the 26th weekly session of the Gran Alacant Oldies Walking Football on Thursday 22nd February.
It was also the day that the sponsored shirts were handed out to the players. A shirt will always be handed out to anyone who turns up, to be handed back in after the game.
The club thanks the five Gran Alacant business sponsors for providing the shirts. They are Homefinders estate agent, Gran Alacant Properties estate agent, La Paletta restaurant, Hispania bar/restaurant and Gran Alacant Advertiser magazine, who kindly took the group photo for us.
The shirts were supplied and printed by Bumblebee printing.
20 shirts were initially ordered and paid for by the sponsors, but at least another 25 have been ordered by players liking to have their own shirt and by at least one sponsor who is hanging a shirt on the inside wall of his bar.
Interest in us is certainly booming and bigger numbers of players will be no problem as we have plans in place if more and more turn up.
We play every Thursday afternoon of the year on the outside pitch at the Gran Alacant Sports Centre.
Our first session was back in August of 2017, where 8 players turned up.
No tackling, no contact, equals no injuries. Just come and enjoy yourselves.
