Services sector sheds 986 jobs

Unemployment increased in the Vega Baja by 507 people during the month of September with the number of unemployed currently registered at 27,296, according to data from the Valencian Employment and Training Service (Servef).

The end of the summer season means the usual increase in the number of unemployed, especially along coastal municipalities where jobs are generated in bars and restaurants during the summer holiday period.

Torrevieja is most affected with 621 more people unemployed that was the case at the end of August. Pilar de la Horadada shows an increase of 133 unemployed while in Guardamar the figure has risen by 113.

Good news in a number of other municipalities though where unemployed dropped significantly in Orihuela (-102), Callosa de Segura (-112), Redován (-38) and Bigastro (-32).

With the end of the summer a total of 986 jobs were lost in the Services sector while there were 230 new jobs created in construction, and 209 in manufacturing and Agriculture.
