Members of the British Airline Pilots’ Association (Balpa) have voted to walk out on a 12 hour strike on Friday, 8th September.

The strike affects pilots who work for Thomas Cook. The company have said that all flights will operate despite the action taken by employees and there will be very little disruption to the service and passengers are unlikely to be inconvenienced.

According to Balpa, there has been a significant deterioration in the terms and conditions of the employees and despite a 4% pay rise over two years, the pilots are still worse off in real-terms.

According to the union, this is the first UK pilot’s strike for nearly 50 years.
