At 6 pm on Sunday November 13 a special Remembrance Sunday Service was held in Campoverde Church and Garden. As a church and as a village we take Remembrance Sunday very seriously as it gives us the opportunity to remember those service men and women who have given their lives for our freedom and democracy.

The whole village was invited to come and join in this Act of Remembrance and a special  invitation was extended to all those current and ex service men and women in Campoverde to come and wear their medals.untitled-2

Others were invited to bring photos of family members who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces, to be displayed in the church and blessed by our Priest. Over 50 people attended, with many displaying their medals and all with stories to tell. Fittingly, Poppy the dog attended with her master who brought along pictures of his grandfather who had fought and died in World War One.

The service started with the Act of Remembrance in the church garden, the playing of the Last Post and the laying of a Poppy Wreath under the cross. This was followed by a Service of Holy Communion in the church led by Father Richard and Father Robert.

The photos show the the laying of the wreath and a selection of the ex-service men and women who attended. Further details on Campoverde Church are available from Maggie Dew on maggieruthdew@hotmail.com or visit www.facebook.com/campoverdechurch.
