NEW DIGITAL PARKING SIGNS

Torrevieja continues to embrace the digital age with new signage to help drivers find car parking in the city. Seven companies with public car parks have reached an agreement with the council to cover the costs of the installation of digital panels, indicating the location of car parks and also pointing out the number of places available.
In total there will be three digital panels located on three key entry points of the municipality plus another 74 analog signals spread throughout the city. Although the town has more companies with parking facilities, so far only these seven have signed up to be pioneers in the agreement.
The first three digital panels will be located where Gregorio Marañón meets with San Policarpo and Ramon Gallud with Maria Parodi. It is the car park entrepreneurs themselves who have paid for the digital panels, aware that "the information provided is power" to promote themselves but also in the field of promotion of local trade, as more fluid circulation and parking will result in better access to stores of the town and will help reduce traffic jams.
In September there is a plan to also include an application that enables drivers to find out through the municipal website all the information displayed on these digital signs about parking. And while the Municipal Website only exists in Spanish at the moment, using one’s favourite translation tool will provide simple information as to parking options. This is also seen as a useful tool for drivers, or at least their passengers, who can access the information on the web through their smartphone. Happy parking!
