Alan Daulby was given a 19 year prison sentence last week for the murder of Avril Flanagan in Cabo Roig 3 years ago following an attack that judges called 'brutal and barbaric'
After an 18 month relationship was ended Daulby stalked Ms Flanagan for over a week before killing her in her at his apartment. He was convicted of stabbing her almost 50 times before hiding her body under his sofa and going on the run.
Although Daulby confessed to the killing claimed he had confused her with an intruder whilst being intoxicated after a heavy drinking session, although this was rejected by the jury of eight women and one man. He was also ordered to pay Miss Flanagan’s parents €40,000 each for the loss of their daughter
Dalby was finally arrested later the same day after a police chase in the north of the Costa Blanca. The three years that he has already served will be deducted from his sentence.
