Press Release / 2012-08-15 15:23:40
New stands will be added, offering textile and accessories
Xàbia. Friday, 10th of August, 2012.
Starting next Thurday, 16th of August, the weekly open Market will extend its number of stalls. They will be placed in the Municipal Market and Church Square. After the month of April, vending order will be modified and new points of sale will be installed in different areas of the municipality.
Till now, the City Council has received 30 applications to join the weekly market, but Juan Luis Cardona, the Counsillor for Economic Development, explains that so far, only 13 of them are given authorization. In order not to compete, no sale of fruits and vegetables are allowed and also to contain rubish of these stalls only to the Plaza de la Constitution.
You will find gift items, textiles and accessories in the Plaza de la Iglesia (Church Square) and the new traders already agreed not to park their cars and vans there. Cardona assures that this extension is only a test, which can be modified if the results are not beneficial to the municipality or if it creates problems.
Creating more stalls in the market is finally meeting the demand of many vendors who have stayed away from the Javea weekly market only due to lack of space. In addition, as the councillor pointed out, the Consistory kept its promise made to the trade associations that this market will expand into the old town.
