AMERICAN TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Campoamor golf club held the March American tennis tournament on Friday 16th. Despite a poor forecast the weather turned out to be perfect. The 17 players played either 5 or 6 rounds of 7 games with randomly drawn partners and opponents. The top 2 men and women were then drawn to play a one set mixed doubles final.

2nd Oliver Eley 24/5 Jean Lee 26/5
3rd Kevin Seabrook 27/6 Christine Mose 28/6.
The final saw Gordon and Jean being drawn together and romping into a 4 love lead, Gordon is a previous tournament winner and only started playing again 1 year ago , whilst Jean a regular player in the club sessions at Campoamor has represented her club in the Costa Blanca league.
However, their opponents fought their way back to force a tie-break at 5 all. Alison, also a previous tournament winner and league player, and Oliver just 16 years old and only having been playing tennis for 6 months. He started with lessons from Campoamor club coach Steve Durie.
The tie-break ended in a win for Gordon and Jean, congratulations and gold medals received, everybody enjoyed a drink on the club house terrace. Some contestants also enjoyed an after tournament meal in the Campoamor restaurant.
Tournament organiser Steve Durie would like to thank everybody who took part in a great day and looks forward to the April tournament.
