Monday 7th May, La Torre 'Captain's Day'

It was a warm sunny day, pity about the wind which again meant low scores recorded by the
34 players taking part on Captain's Day. There are a lot of bunkers on La Torre which I know I found very difficult to get out of, even more frustrating going from one to another. The course design is very impressive and in very good condition, although the continual reflective whiteness of the buildings could possibly be blamed for some missed putts.

We did have an additional bonus of a complimentary meal which everyone enjoyed with a few bevies prior to the presentation by our Captain Terry Crawley, thanks for a great day Terry.

Congratulations to the winners who were as follows:

Gold Winner - Stan Boyles - 34 points, who also wins the Captain's Trophy.
Silver Winner - George Renwick - 33 points
Bronze Winner - Pete Dunn - 32 points

Nearest the pin hole 3 - Pete Ferries, hole 5 - D Walker, hole 9 - Ladies Pearl Sabine, hole 11 - Pete Ferries, hole 15 - John McArthur and hole 17 - Stan Boyles.
Best front nine D Walker 18 points, best back nine John McArthur 19 points, The Jim McArte trophy for the best score on par 4's was won by George Renwick 21 points.

Congratulations to our league team who beat La Manga 'A' at La Torre 3 and a half points to half a point, thus avoiding the wooden spoon sadly it means we will be playing in the B division next season. The committee would like to thank everyone who supported the league team during the past year, no doubt we will bounce back again.

Captain's Presentation Dance is on Friday 18th May at the Rocajuna Roadhouse, if you have not yet got your name down and wish to attend please contact me.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 20th May at 11.00am also at the Rocajuna Roadhouse. Please try and attend as this is the member's society and your support matters.
