Anthony Ford-Dunn put in a spectacular double victory at Sundays round of the Valencian Supermoto championship held at the Oliva Karting track near to Denia on the Costa Blanca.
The British expat that lives in Bullas, Murcia put in a dominant display to set pole position and then take a win in both of his two races to take the overall victory for the day. It didn’t go all his own way though as he was chased hard in the first race by the Spanish rider Ivan Romero Garcia, before a small error saw him crash out as he clipped the back of Anthony’s bike as he entered a turn.
Ivan was injured in the crash and was unable to restart, or participate in the second of the two races.
The second race saw Anthony’s older brother Mat take the lead into the first corner and there was a frantic couple of laps racing between the two brothers before Anthony made a pass on the brakes at the end of the straight. Once Anthony took the lead he pulled out a large gap from the rest of the field to take the 2nd of his two wins.
With Mat finishing in 2nd place behind Anthony in both races it meant that the two brothers and the Supermotoland team came away with 1st and 2nd positions overall, A great result from a great days racing.
‘I am very pleased with today’s result, we are still struggling at the moment with front tyre grip due to some bike set up issues, but we hope to have this problem resolved soon with some new parts, and further testing which should see us running at an even quicker pace.
I would also like to thank the many people that came to watch today and support us, it’s very appreciated.’ Said Anthony after the podium celebrations.
The Brothers next race is at the lleida street circuit in Catalunya on Sunday 17th July, for the second round of the Spanish Supermoto championships.
